从我们基金会成立以来，认识太多尘肺病农民工，也经历了太多生生死死。但当看到这位尘肺病农民工视频袁老师还是禁不住难过起来，那种窒息的感觉，把呼吸挤压成尖锐的呼啸声，吃不下饭，整夜没法睡觉，只能坐着，平躺更没有呼吸。袁老师按住了心中的冲动，为了一个人，不能这么飞一趟，也找到了若干个不去的理由。但是，几天后的的清晨，当太阳升起，她终于还是压抑不住自己心头的柔软，临时买了巨贵的机票直飞陕西。袁老师说无论如何要去看看他，否则那种视而不见的内疚感会让她寝食难安。陕西镇安是我们做公益的第一站，这么多年来她都对那个地方的人们有份特殊的情感。

Since the establishment of our Foundation, we have already met so many migrant workers suffering from Pneumoconiosis and experienced numerous life and death. However after watching this patient’s video, Yuan Li is in sorrow: one cannot eat nor sleep the whole night because you cannot breath once you lay flat. You can only sit upright, and struggle to breath by squeezing your respiratory system. It is difficult for Yuan Li to hold her emotions. There are of course very good reasons not to fly for one single patient, however there is an inner calling from her heart, at the end she decided to fly over to Shanxi albeit the very expensive flight tickets in such short notice. “Zhen An is the first village we served, we have a very special connection to it.”

当我们飞机加汽车终于见到这位农民工的时候，还是被他家的情况震惊了。他的家比一般的尘肺病农民工家庭还要难。一家三兄弟两个尘肺躺在医院里，他是家里的老大，比袁老师还小，黑黑的头发能看出还在盛年，但整个人已经消瘦的不成样子，像个老头。看到我们专程来看他，露出满脸的惊讶。感谢的话已经说不出太多，问他痛吗？他说痛。问他害怕吗？他瞬间焕发出一种无畏的神采来，说不害怕！尘肺病实在是太痛苦了，相对于无法呼吸的窒息感，死亡也许从来都不那么可怕。被病魔折腾成这样，他也无法再顾念许多，虽然眼眶也湿润了，但还是斩钉截铁地说只要不受罪，放不下也要放下了.......

Flight plus road travel finally got us there, still we were shocked by this family’s situation. A family of three brothers, two of which are already in hospital. This patient is the eldest in the family, younger than Yuan Li, maybe in his mid-40s. However his body is so weak and skinny that makes him looks like an old man already. He was surprised to see us paying him a special visit. Although he cannot talk much, he told us he is in pain. However his eyes are fearless. “I don’t want to suffer more, I am ready to give up” said in determination with his eyes wet. Giving up may be a release for those suffering from suffocation every minute, death is no longer a fear to these patients…

他家两兄弟都是尘肺病，大冬天都只能在医院苦撑。二弟还做了肠癌的手术，情况就更加糟糕一些。我们来的还算及时，二弟因为医疗费用告罄，已经被通知出院。二弟说，给工头做了一年，年底时没有结账，拿不到钱。我们出面和医院协商，及时的帮助他们，起码要维持到病情稳定再说。他们的家还住在山上，虽然当地政府给盖了移民搬迁房，但他们连象征性的首付款也拿不出来，因此搬不下高山。山上的家没有暖气，制氧机又坏了，没法吸氧。这种情况折腾回去结果可想而知。问起他们的母亲，说母亲一个人在家里哭。是呀！这种境遇一个老人又能当如何呢？

The two brothers are both suffering from Pneumoconiosis, usually in winter they will be struggling in hospitals. What’s worse, the younger brother just had an intestinal cancer operation, but was asked to leave the hospital because he was not able to pay his medical bills. “I worked for one year but was not able to settle the hours and get my wages at the end of the year” We helped him negotiate with the hospital and provide immediate assistance to get by at least until his situation becomes stable.

This family lived in the mountain. Although the local government already built houses to help such families move out, they cannot even afford the very minimal down payment. There is no heating in the mountain, and the oxygen generation were out of order, they are not able to breath in oxygen. When asked about their mother, “She is crying alone at home…” Understandably what can an old women do under such circumstances?

他们的家离县城很远，镇上的班车到了终点还有三小时的山路要走。冬天路滑，我们就不进山去看望他们了，希望春暖花开的时候我们可以去，也希望他们的身体有转机，我们的帮助包括医疗对现有的尘肺病都是有限的，爱心人士给他们这一家送上了过年费用，希望老天保佑这家人过年能团聚在一起吃上热腾腾的饺子，也在此给所有爱心人士问安，谢谢你们的善款，让无数个卑微的最小兄弟得到慰藉和尊严。

Their home is far from town, there is still a 3-hour walk up the mountain after the terminal station served by the local bus. We didn’t go visit in such deep winter, hope we will be able to make this trip when spring comes, and hope by the time we meet they will recover better. Our assistance, including medical help, to Pneumoconiosis patients is very limited. Our donors kindly provided them with one year’s financial assistance and hope they can feed the family with some hot dumplings during Chinese New Year. Here I want to express my sincere gratitude to all our kind hearted donors, you give the love and respect to the numerous little brothers out there in desperate need of help.
